Download 64 StudioThe 64 Studio version 2.1 install image is around 800MB and requires a DVD-R. The 2.0 Live CD is smaller and can be burned to either CD-R or DVD-R. Both versions are available in 64-bit (labelled amd64) and 32-bit (labelled i386) builds, to run on almost all PCs. In the root directory of the CD you should see a readme file with basic installation instructions, with several translations available. If you would like to contribute a translation in your own language, please get in touch via the contacts page. To check your download is in good condition, please download the .md5sum file provided, and compare it with the iso image file; for example: $ md5sum 64studio_2.1_amd64.iso The output from the first command should be identical to the output from the second. If not, you need to download again. We recommend the wget program for reliable downloads. 64bit for Intel?
Yes! The AMD64 install DVD is the one to use. AMD was the first to bring out a 64bit CPU for personal computers, with Intel lagging years behind. Intel 64 is just a clone of the AMD 64bit model, so much in the same way we call 32bit architectures i386 (an Intel moniker) we now call 64bit architectures AMD64. Only fair!
Burning the 64studio ISO to DVD in K3B using Ubuntu HH
Greetings!
When using K3B 1.0.4 to burn 64studio_2.1_amd64.iso to DVD by clicking on the ISO, K3B perversely asks for a CD to be inserted, and does not enable the write functions if you insert a DVD. Attempting to write to the CD is prevented due to lack of space. So we tried this:
Workaround:
In K3B click on 'Tools' then on 'Burn ISO to DVD'
Navigate K3B to your copy of 64studio_2.1_amd64.iso
Adjust any parameters that you need to, and tell K3B to start.
It wrote a DVD with a good MD5sum when we tried it.
PS
K3B usually manages to associate ISOs with the appropriate media in our (limited) experience.
This looks similar to the problem (and solution) with Nero in the FAQ.
Any comments on that?
